by Turkey. TTMD Chairman of the Board Dr. Kemal Gani Bayraktar was elected to the REHVA Board of Directors. This Task force includes; Italy, France, Spain and Turkey. However, there were people who contributed to the study from outside the group. In this guide, there are about 20 experts from four countries and we mainly deal with residential buildings. EU aims nZEB One of the developing concepts regarding energy efficient buildings is the concept of nZEB. In fact, although the concept of net zero-energy building seems more ideal, a “nearly zero” energy building is a more realistic target in terms of decent cost and feasibility. There is serious legislation regulating consumption and efficiency in the European Union. Parallel to this, the Energy Efficiency in Buildings Regulation came out in Turkey. With these regulations, it is among the targets of the European Union to reduce consumption in buildings and to get all member countries to comply with nZEB between the years 2020- wall mass plays a very crucial role. There are a number of new products such as phase-changing substances, and these are mostly used in southern states. In this hot climate, evaporative cooling is gaining importance. In other words, this makes cooling possible by consuming a little energy. One of the most important pillars of the nZEB strategy is related to the building structure. The second one is related to mechanical systems and the use of renewable energy. While very efficient heating systems and boilers are important for the Nordic countries, very high efficiency air conditioning systems and VRVs gain importance in the South. Structures with zero energy or near zero energy are not structures that zeros down energy use. It produces the energy it uses from renewable sources instead of fossil fuels. The third pillar of this strategy required to achieve the goal is related to how renewable energy will be used in buildings. The guides we prepare are aimed to be in the range of 80-100 pages. As such, we have decided to split this work into two, Part 1 and Part 2. In part 1 we focused on building envelopes and this work was “One of the most important pillars of the nZEB strategy is related to the building structure.
